Module 4 - Social sciences and humanities
Module Objectives:• Description of fire regimes at key sites over the recent and/or historical period, and of fire regimes during recent decades at the broader continental scale
• Exploration of the natural (e.g. climate, vegetation cover, fuel characteristics) and socioeconomic (e.g. land-use, population, land management) controls on fire regimes (including initiation and
spread)
• Development of fire model, including both natural wildfires and human-set or human-controlled fires
• Development of databases of market and non-market values of fire impacts and management measures
• Exploration of impacts of different scenarios of fire management under future climate regimes
